The 5th-grade students finished up their realistic fiction book reports and did their sandwich poster boards to try to sell their books to other students! Molly Cornford, Grace Luna, Adyson Mose, Conner Young, and Lily Stoddard are pictured.

Happy “Wacky Wednesday”!
Students at St. Charles Elementary School were encouraged to wear their clothes backwards, sideways, or mismatched today! Here we have first grader Karsyn Gauna doing all three!

Kindergarten students in Mrs. Lemaire's classroom practice their fine motor skills by ripping and gluing rainbows.

Safari Story Time At The Elementary-
Two student reading committee guides, Skyler Belongia and Ady Mose, read one of their favorite books to Mrs.Coleman’s and Mr.Henry’s room. They did a fantastic job!

The first graders in Mrs. Schultz’s room were visited today by “Safari Guide” Jonnylyn Dijak. This is just one of the many “wild about reading” activities the elementary students have in store for them during the month of March!

The following students are members of our elementary "March Reading Month Student Committee 2023": Kat Muirhead, Lily Senske, Molly Cornford, Skyler Belongia, Laina Moore, Grace Luna, Kennedie Fitting, Jonnylyn Dijak, Ady Mose, and Layne Woodgate.
This group, along with the help of some other outstanding students, parents, and staff, decorated the school with our theme, “Wild About Reading.”

On Monday, March 6th, 2023, the English 10 and English 11 students had the opportunity to go to the Zekelman Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills. While visiting the Memorial Center, students could hear a second-generation speaker speak about her parents growing up during the Holocaust. After the speaker's presentation, students were given a guided tour. The field trip supplemented the students reading of the novel Night by Elie Wiesel.

Thank you to Mrs. Brcik, our Food Service Director, and her staff for packaging breakfast and lunch for the students who attended the Holocaust Memorial Center field trip. We appreciate all that you and your staff do!

Head on over to Coal Miner's Park for a Story Walk. The Saginaw ISD, the St. Charles Library, and the Village of St. Charles have partnered up to offer “How to Catch a Leprechaun” at Coal Miners Park for the month of March.
You can start the “How to Catch a Leprechaun” story at the Coal Miner's Park sign, and follow the 10 story signs, with the story ending at the big pavilion. Have fun with reading!

The students who placed for St. Charles are Avery Moore, first, and Nathan Kutz, second place, and Kylie Fiting third. All three received award certificates for their achievement. As the school's first-place winner, Avery's name will also be engraved on a plaque for permanent display in the school. Avery's first-place essay will now advance to the state-level competition, from which the top ten essays in Michigan will be selected. The top statewide winners will be announced in April and will receive a plaque, medallion, and a cash award of $1000.
