Mrs. Hart put together this awesome showcase to encourage seniors who are college bound to apply for admission. Staff members are featured with the school they attended.

October is college month. Mrs. Hart our college and career advisor has planned different events to help students with college awareness. The Middle/High School students and staff kicked off College Month by having a door decorating contest. Staff and students worked together to design a door that followed a college and career theme.

Mrs. Gerding's Marine Science class worked with the Friends of the Shiawassee River, who have a grant through the Michigan EGLE department to monitor streams and tributaries of the Shiawassee River for water quality. We did this collection out at the Hulien Rd. boat launch. The volunteers use nets to stir up and collect the small critters that live in the sediment on the bottom of the river, called benthic macroinvertebrates. Using a water quality index calculation, we collect and identify how many of the bugs and other small critters we collect from various categories, and based on their tolerance for pollution, we can calculate a water quality rating for our river. Preliminary findings are that we likely have good water quality on the Bad River. We found several pollution-sensitive macroinvertebrates, which tells us there's not much pollution at the site. We found water scorpions, caddisflies, mayfly larvae, dragonfly larvae, damselfly larvae, and many others, along with some freshwater mussels and snails.

Reminder...Count Day is Wednesday, October 5th!! We are counting on seeing all of our students' smiling faces for the school count day. Virtual students should complete one assignment, test, or quiz in each of their scheduled classes and then email Mrs. Selich or Mrs. Skiendziel to report their completions. Thanks and Go Bulldogs!!

It was a perfect day in October as the Bulldogs from St. Charles High School showed what amazing young men they really are. In the morning they help Mr. and Mrs. Benson with a food drive held at St. Charles Community Schools. During pre-game of their game against White Pigeon Chiefs they honored veterans, first, with a reception with hot dogs , chips, and water then, the marching band played a tribute medley honoring each branch: The Army, The Navy, The Air Force, The Marines, and The Coast Guard. Veterans were greeted by St. Charles fans as they walked in front of the crowd escorted by the Bulldogs. It was a proud Bulldog moment!! The heart and respect our athletes showed for human life and the value of respecting their freedom was very powerful! America was built on the very sacrifices of those who joined us Saturday and we as a school community salute and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!!!

On Saturday, the Varsity Football Team assisted Mr. and Mrs. Benson to distribute food during a food give away at St. Charles High School.

If you attended the Military Classic Football Game in Bulldog Stadium on Saturday and noticed a brand new flag flying and several flags placed at each end of the football field, it was the dedication of three St. Charles American Legion Post 468 members, Jay Gardner, Bob Henderson, and Tom Hawley. Thank you guys they added a lot of class to the event!

As a reminder, there is NO SCHOOL for students on Monday, October 3, 2022. Enjoy your day off :)
