A message from Superintendent Ronald Stanley.....
Good afternoon Staff, Families, and Community Members,
As we move forward from all the celebratory events of the past week and a half, I wanted to take a
moment to briefly address last Wednesday’s senior prank incident and reaffirm our continued
commitment to school safety, accountability, and maintaining a positive school environment.
As many are aware, a group of seniors gained unauthorized access to our buildings after hours as part
of a senior prank that resulted in classrooms and hallways being disrupted, along with some student
materials within the building being affected. While senior pranks have long been considered a tradition
in many schools, it is important that we maintain clear boundaries regarding safety, respect for school
property, and adherence to our Student Code of Conduct.
Although we were not looking to make this situation bigger than it needed to be, we do believe that it
was important to address it directly and use it as an opportunity to reset expectations moving forward.
Student celebrations and traditions can absolutely be positive and memorable experiences, but they
must remain safe, respectful, and within reasonable limits.
A proper internal review of the incident has been completed, and we have a clear understanding of how
the events occurred. Students involved have been held accountable for their actions, and any
breakdowns in procedures or expectations involving others have also been addressed appropriately.
Most importantly, this situation has prompted valuable conversations regarding building access,
supervision, communication, and safety procedures. Safety and security remain daily priorities for our
students and staff, and we will continue working to strengthen our systems and clarify expectations to
help ensure incidents like this do not occur again in the future.
Moving forward, the district will work proactively with students and school leadership to establish
clearer guidelines surrounding future senior activities and traditions so they can remain positive
experiences that reflect the pride and values of St. Charles Community Schools.
I appreciate the professionalism of our staff, the support of our families, and the cooperation of our
students as we continue focusing on a strong finish to the school year.
Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to our schools.
Sincerely,
Ronald Stanley, Superintendent
St. Charles Community Schools
