Hello, St. Charles Community. I am Katrina Hamilton-Kraft, known by students over the years as simply HK. I am honored to be the new high school English teacher in the district.
Since arriving in Michigan six years ago, it has been a joy to teach at Bridgeport and Western High Schools. Michigan creates amazing kids, and I cannot wait to meet the students of St. Charles!
My 25 years in education have brought a wealth of experiences and wonderful people. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Education- Secondary English (minors in creative writing and theater) from Buffalo State University, along with a Master of Arts in Literature, Culture, and Society from Stony Brook University, plus extensive postgraduate work at Fredonia University. This education has given me a fascinating and diverse career! I have taught at high school, business college, community college, and university levels, often simultaneously.
What I have discovered and now bring to St. Charles is a profound love of individual human growth and achievement. To me, there is nothing more powerful than participating in someone else's moment of discovery! I believe in the importance of fun. I strive to make my lessons as interactive and engaging as possible. At the end of each day, we are all in this together.
Outside of teaching, I have a wonderful husband and three grown sons whose lives and choices fill me with joy. I am an avid traveler. This year began in San Diego, then Scotland during Spring Break, England last month, and will end in Peru. The more I travel, the more I dream of seeing.
Everyone I have met at St. Charles has been truly wonderful. I cannot wait to start the school year and meet everyone!

I’ve been teaching for 15 years, with 13 of those years focused on 6th grade. I truly love teaching math and enjoy finding creative, hands-on ways to make it fun and engaging for my students.
My husband, Nick, and I have three wonderful children who keep us on our toes! When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, baking, crafting, and exploring new places.
I’m really looking forward to a great year and getting to know all of you!

I am passionate about helping students grow. I believe in creating a fun, inclusive, and energetic environment where all students can thrive. There’s nothing I love more than sports, staying physically active, and being around kids! Whether it’s through teaching, coaching, or simply being a positive role model, I’m dedicated to making a lasting impact in the lives of others.
I was born and raised in Fenton, Michigan, and graduated from Fenton High School. I then attended Mid Michigan College and Saginaw Valley State University, where I had the incredible chance to play college baseball at both schools. Sports have always been a major part of my life, and I look forward to bringing that same energy, discipline, and teamwork into the classroom and gym.
Outside of school, my world revolves around my family and friends. Whether it's spending quality time with them, staying active, or cheering on my favorite teams, I am always on the move and doing what I love.
I’m genuinely excited to begin my career here in St. Charles, and I look forward to an amazing first year filled with growth, connection, and a lot of Bulldog pride! Let’s have a fantastic year!

This is my sixth year of teaching, and I also have eight years of experience working with kids through church programs and substitute teaching. I graduated from Rochester College, and I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in reading.
I have been married to my husband, Chris, for 18 years. We are proud parents of a son who is in the 11th grade and a daughter who is in the 6th grade. We also have two dogs and two cats.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and exploring our beautiful state outdoors.
I am excited to join the community and start the new school year!

Great news! Thanks to the Michigan School Meals Program, all district students from pre-K through 12th grade can receive free breakfast and lunch.
To continue receiving state and federal funding for this program, we kindly ask all parents to complete a short, mandatory Food Service Form that will be emailed and texted to you this afternoon.
Please use the link provided to complete the form. Your cooperation is essential to the success of this initiative.
If you have any questions, please contact Kris Sullivan, Food Service Director, at 989-865-6861.

Please note: Immunization services will not be available on Bulldog night. The Health Department has notified us that they cannot accommodate the date.

I recently graduated from Saginaw Valley State University, where I developed a strong passion for mathematics and teaching. When I am not in the classroom, I love spending my free time exploring nature through walks and expressing my creativity with scrapbooking.
I truly believe this will be a fantastic year filled with learning, growth, and exciting new experiences. I cannot wait to meet all of my students and to be a part of this wonderful school community!

I grew up in Hemlock, have lived in several parts of Florida for over 10 years, and currently reside in downtown Saginaw. I attended college at both Michigan State and Saginaw Valley. I earned a double major in Health/PE and the Visual Arts and have been teaching for over 18 years. I have taught at the University of Florida Harn Museum of Art, Tarpon Springs High School, Morey Charter School, and Midland High.
My passion for teaching is watching students problem-solve and be creative through drawing, painting, and ceramics! I especially enjoy watching their portfolios grow over time and seeing the joy they find in creating art. My favorite classes to teach are AP Studio Art.
I have a courageous daughter, three hilarious grandbabies, a grand dog named Chunk Norris, and my own “barking bad” golden retriever puppy named Walter. I absolutely love going to concerts and listening to music in my free time. I also spend most of my time up north at my cabin in Oscoda, where I enjoy boating, fishing, kayaking, and being outdoors.
I live my life with grit, humor, and compassion, and I am so excited to collaborate with the staff and students here at St. Charles!
