🎄 Thank You for Supporting Shop with a Cop! 🎄
St. Charles Community Schools would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Department, local law enforcement agencies, Meijer, and all the incredible volunteers who helped make this year’s Shop with a Cop event such a success!
Several of our students had the opportunity to participate and were truly blessed by the kindness, generosity, and holiday spirit shown by everyone involved. From the smiles to the shared moments, it was a joyful experience that made the season a little brighter for everyone.

My name is Amanda Koch, and I am the new MS/HS Academic and Career Advisor.
I have been in education for 16 years, most recently supporting Career and Technical Education across Saginaw County.
I was born and raised in Auburn, MI. I graduated from Bay City Western and earned my Bachelor's Degree in Education from Saginaw Valley State University. I later earned my Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Michigan.
When I am not at work, I enjoy traveling, attending sporting and music events, and exploring new places.
I am excited to work with the students in their career development and support both students and staff at St. Charles!

A message from Mrs. Frost, St. Charles Elementary School's gym teacher!
We had two more students make the impossible shot! Congratulations to Blake and Austin!!
The students also prepared for Thanksgiving by playing "Fill the Pot." A fan favorite of many of the students!

St. Charles Elementary School has been working diligently to follow our Bulldog Strong Expectations every day. Last week, we focused on our lunchroom expectation for Be Kind—picking up after ourselves and disposing of our lunch waste properly!
We are proud to share that Mrs. Lemaire’s kindergarten class earned an ice cream party for being the top class in the lunchroom and for winning our Be Kind Award for the week.
Stay tuned for next Friday when we will announce the next winners as we shift our focus to our Be Well lunchroom expectation—controlling our bodies, using appropriate voice levels, and speaking kindly. Who will be our next Bulldog Strong winners? Check back to find out!

St. Charles MS/HS Freshmen students play a few rounds of Uno to go along with their lesson on "proofs" with teacher Mrs. Short. All work and no play... no way!

The 6th graders learned about the history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in ELA class and made some creative "parade floats" out of balloons and other supplies.
In math class, they built models to represent New York City and programmed Edison bots using code to carry their floats through the parade route.
The actual parade had some issues, but we hope that the students had fun learning and thinking outside the box this week!

In the elementary MTSS groups with Mrs. Van Tiem, students combined reading with counting down the days until Christmas. Each night, they will take one link off their paper chain and read it to someone at home. When they reach the final link on the stocking, it will be Christmas Eve!
The students were very excited about this fun activity, and they sang songs as they created their chains together.

St. Charles Community Schools is grateful for our amazing students and wonderful staff. We would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

We have loved watching our gratitude grow at St. Charles Elementary School these past few weeks, thanks to the 5th-grade leadership team's "Thankful Tree"!
Students and staff shared what they are grateful for. It made our hearts full to see so many write that they are thankful for things right here at school.
Happy Thanksgiving, Bulldogs!

This past week, Ms. Poletti's class learned about Thanksgiving, its meaning, and traditions. To wrap up the lesson, the Young 5 students made their own balloons!

Mrs. Pumford, a 5th-grade teacher at St. Charles Elementary School, participated in a Crayola Prize Pack Sweepstakes and was selected, out of 4 other teachers nationwide, as a winner of $500 worth of classroom supplies. She is excited to share them with her students and other teachers at our elementary school!!
Way to go, Mrs. Pumford!!

Although it may be a short week at St. Charles Elementary School, our students excelled in meeting expectations!
Congratulations to this week's "Caught Being a Bulldog" winners! They were nominated by staff for following our hallway expectations: using walking feet, being quiet, and staying in control of their bodies.

Mrs. Lemaire and her literacy small group practiced their letters before break with some "whipped cream" (shaving cream) and pumpkin pie!

Mrs Kenyon’s middle school life skills class at St. Charles Community MS/HS made grilled cheese sandwiches in class. The students worked on reading recipes and making food.
Food makes learning easier when you know you get to enjoy your efforts immediately :)

First-grade students in Mrs. Hafner's and Mrs. LeVan's classrooms are participating in a Thanksgiving project this week in which they "hatched" turkey eggs. They worked to create a nest for their turkeys, and today they are filling out their baby turkeys' baby books.
Stay tuned for pictures of the turkey baby books! Happy Thanksgiving!!

Last Friday, our middle and high school students, along with their teacher, Ms. Stone, had an incredible opportunity to learn from two of Michigan's State FFA Officers, Jessica and Brent!
They shared the many wonderful aspects of FFA, including leadership development, career opportunities, building friendships, travel experiences, and much more. The students also engaged in activities that helped them better understand themselves, their values, and how they can grow as leaders.
Thank you, Michigan FFA, for supporting our chapter and empowering our students to explore the countless possibilities FFA offers! #MichiganFFA

The National Honor Society helped decorate the elementary school hallways to spread holiday cheer as early as possible. Thank you to Mrs. Hedrich and Mr. Wicke for their supervision!
